At Firstlight Midwifery Care our desire to take on students stems from a commitment to ensure that the art of midwifery is passed on to the younger generation and can continue to grow and thrive in Tacoma and beyond. Students are with the practice for a minimum of one year to ensure the best continuity of care possible. During their time with Firstlight Midwifery Care, students are completing requirements put forth by the state of Washington for licensure as a licensed midwife, including many hours of prenatal and postpartum appointments, as well as 100 births prior to completing their educational program and taking the state licensing exam.
